My values

  1. The long term optimal functioning of my self as a biological, social, and intellectual entity. This extends to global life support systems, which provide me stable supplies of water, food, and internet, and a secure environment.
  2. The reduction of the imposition of suffering by the powerful onto the weak, which means political, social and economic justice as expressed in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights. These rights give humans responsibility and the means for their own well being, and it is a shame on our political systems that so many lack these prerequisites.

A note about altruism.

Altruism is just a sublimated, or socialised form of selfishness. It does not deserve accolades. Altruism should be pursued because it is appropriate for well being and mental health. (2008)
